TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan confirmed that the operating hours of the city's public transportation, MRT Jakarta and Transjakarta, will return to normal in line with the implementation of the transition period of the large-scale social restriction or PSBB to a new normal phase.
The provincial administration is determined to apply the first stage of the transition period from the large-scale social restriction (PSBB) policy for a month, starting Friday, June 5, 2020.
"MRT, Transjakarta will operate in normal hours, with a shorter headway, but the capacity is limited to only 50 percent per car," said Anies Baswedan in Jakarta on Thursday, June 4, 2020.
The government will continue to impose strict physical distancing policy at train stations and bus stops. Every passenger is also obliged to make a distance between each other of at least one meter.
Anies said that his side will evaluate the transition period at the end of June, "assessing whether the set indicators show safe signs? If it's safe, we can start the second phase."
However, if Jakarta re-enters the red zone status for increasing number of Covid-19 cases later in the future, Anies Baswedan underlined that the Covid-19 task force will immediately stop the transition period.
"This means, all activities are restricted again. Offices, stores, and places of worship will be closed," Anies added. "So it is important for us to maintain this discipline."
