TEMPO.CO, JakartaState-owned commuter line operator PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) has advised passengers to wear not only face masks but also face shields, long-sleeve jackets or sleeves, and hand gloves during the transitional large-scale social restrictions or PSBB.

PT KCI Vice President of Corporate Communications, Anne Purba, said every person entering train stations must pass the body temperature check. “To expedite the checking, PT KCI keeps procuring thermo guns at ten stations that serve a high number of passengers,” said Anne in a written statement on Friday, July 3.

The company, she added, had also installed thermal scanners that could check a dozen people at one time and additional handwashing stations at 80 stations. “So that people can easily clean their hands with soap and water before and after taking a ride,” Anne said.

Moreover, passengers are required to maintain a safe physical distance with each other on the train and at the stations that had been marked with signs of physical distancing. “The signs are installed on each car based on the capacity of 74 commuters.”

Anne added that officers were ready to ensure the implementation of the protocols during peak hours at stations. “So there are frequent queues at stations, especially during rush hours,” she said.

PT KCI adopted the health protocols in an effort to prevent COVID-19 transmission in public transportation as mandated by the Health Ministerial Decree, the Transportation Ministerial Decree, the Jakarta Gubernatorial Regulation, and circulars of the COVID-19 mitigation task force and other derivatives rules.
