Indonesia Covid-19 Update: East Java Reports Most New Cases

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - East Java is still recording high numbers of new Covid-19 cases. According to the National Covid-19 Task Force spokesman, Achmad Yurianto, on July 7, the province recorded the most new confirmed cases nationwide.

"East Java reported 280 new cases and 118 recoveries," Yurianto said in a press conference streamed live via the BNPB Youtube channel, Tuesday, July 7.

After East Java, South Sulawesi recorded the second-most new cases with 218 and 45 recoveries. Jakarta comes third with 190 new positive cases and 241 recoveries.

In Central Java, there were 140 new cases and 50 recoveries, while West Java recorded 79 new cases and 45 recoveries.

Yurianto added that there are 19 provinces with less than 10 new cases, while five provinces reported zero.

"They are North Kalimantan, Riau Islands, Central Sulawesi, Lampung and East Nusa Tenggara," he said.

The total number of new confirmed cases as per today is 1,268, bringing Indonesia's Covid-19 count up to 66,226.
