Luhut Says UAE Mulls Vaccine Collaboration with Indonesia

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said that the United Arab Emirates was interested in cooperating with Indonesia to produce vaccines. The minister said the UAE has come up with a plan to produce up to a million vaccines per year.
Luhut revealed the information during his address to prospective ambassadors in Jakarta, Thursday, July 9.
"The United Arab Emirates is very interested in working with Indonesian companies to produce vaccines, with a production plan of up to 1 million vaccines per year," Luhut said in a written statement
In addition to the UAE, he said there were three other countries that had expressed their interest to develop research and innovation in the health sector in Indonesia. He did not say what countries.
Luhut said that Indonesia is pursuing national independence in the health sector, and the government has prepared a budget of Rp80 trillion to improve facilities and other needs in the medical field.
