TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Agency for Pancasila Ideology Education (BPIP) Head Yudian Wahyudi said that President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo demanded all ministries and institutions focus on educating the millennial generation about the values of Pancasila.
“The president asserts that we need to care about the millennial group that its estimated population reaches over 125 million people,” said Yudian during the BPIP event at Bidakara Hotel, Jakarta, Monday, February 17.
Yudian explained that among the challenges of educating millennials about the country’s ideology was the gap year between their generation and state officials who are far older than them.
“They are divided from two sides, from the education program [for the young group] and the lack of digital technology skills [of the older group],” Yudian added, calling on all high-ranking officials to design the proper program for millennials so that they could acknowledge about the ideology values as expected by the government easily.
“For example, if they (officials) want to talk to junior-high schoolers, understand what they favor, such as spending time on social media. Thus, implant Pancasila values in there (online networking sites),” he remarked.
According to Yudian, a culinary festival, music shows, dance or film shows could be implanted with mutual cooperation, unity, state defense, and others as the values of Pancasila. “BPIP will work together with all parties to achieve the goals, especially educate millennials,” he concluded.
