An enormous iceberg is heading toward South Georgia Island in the southern Atlantic.
For the past six years, an iceberg the size of Rome has
blocked the access of Adelie penguins to the sea in
Antarctica.
Scientists say an estimated 150,000 Adelie penguins have been
wiped out on Antarctica`s Cape Denison in the 5 years since a
giant iceberg blocked it.
Analysis of 37m-year-old fossil unearthed in Antarctica shows
species would have dwarfed today's biggest living penguins.
Penguin populations may have benefited from historic climate
warming.
